Real Madrid, Man Utd battle for Jean Carlos Chera
Real Madrid and Manchester United are fighting for 12 year-old Santos superkid Jean Carlos Chera.
Chera's Dad, Celso, met with Santos president Marcelo Teixeira to inform him he intended to take his son to Spain. Apart from a bumper offer from Real Madrid, the Cheras were also unhappy with the coaching of Alberto Vieira, who was in charge of Santos U13.
To hold onto Chera, Teixeira chose to sack Vieira, which appears to have convinced the family to keep Jean Carlos at Santos - for the time being.
Along with an offer from Real Madrid, Celso Chera revealed: "Manchester United have also already made an approach."
Jean Carlos Chera is a 9-year-old star soccer who is 4-foot-6 and who attracted interest from Manchester United, Porto, Inter Milan and other top European soccer clubs. He recently agreed to train with Brazilian football champion, Santos. (Pele was a teenager when started his career with Santos)
Chera, who weighs 77 pounds, previously played for the youth teams of Associacao Desportiva Atletica, a small club in the southern Brazilian state of Parana.
Jean Carlos Chera has attacted attention due to a soccer video which highlighted his skills and talents.
